Everybody has ideas

only a few do anything about them.

For as little as $100 a day, the Food Factory offers you the opportunity to kick start or rekindle your dream of creating a unique food product, taking it to market and building a sustainable business.
You will have 24 hour access to one of four well-equipped 40 m² commercial kitchens, as well as chiller, freezer and warehousing facilities.

We provide process and cleaning equipment, training in their safe use and guidance on food safety, getting funding and business basics.

Who’s Behind The Food Factory?

Pic’s proposal for a collaborative kitchen facility won the support of the Provincial Growth Fund in 2019.
They paid for the conversion of a half completed warehouse behind Peanut Butter World into the magnificent facility we have today.
A trust has been incorporated under the stewardship of Julian Raine (Appleby Farms), Mark A’Court (Fresh Choice Nelson), Debbie Hannan (communications expert) and Pic Picot (Pic’s Peanut Butter).
It is now applying for status as a charitable trust for educational purposes.

FAQs

How much does it cost?

About a hundred bucks a day.
Significantly cheaper than hiring your local church kitchen- and you get a lot more stuff.
Do get in touch with us regarding pricing, as we’re happy to try make it work for you.

Can I run a Ghost Kitchen in there?

Absolutely!

Who will help me?

Whoever will help make your business viable.
You’re not just getting Pic and Brian but also their contacts.
Marketers, engineers, suppliers, food safety experts-
we’ll put you in touch with the right people.

Will you supply everything I need?

Depends on what you need.
We won’t buy you that obscure Italian pasta extruder that exclusively shapes octagons, or a steam powered coconut cracker that you may have your heart set on but if it’s something that can be useful to lots of manufacturing processes or businesses- we might, just ask.

Can I make toys/pillowcases/coffee tables instead of food?

If it’s an edible coffee table, sure- but we probably won’t be very encouraging of your business plan.
In seriousness, unfortunately not- We’re really, really good with food. Not much else.

I am developing a product or Process that needs to be kept under wraps. Can the food factory guarantee confidentiality?

Our mission is to provide a collegial environment in which every user of TFF benefits from the experiences and skills of everyone else. If there is no one else about at midnight you might get a chance to work on that secret brew, but don’t count on it.
